Prior to joining Trinity, Matt Shepherd was the Associate Regional Director of Young Life in Central Kansas. During his tenure, he saw Young Life expand to 38 middle schools and high schools in Wichita and beyond. Under his leadership, the organization trained over 1,000 leaders and impacted thousands of students for Christ.

Dr. Brian Hutton
Position/Title
K-12 Academic Dean

Experience & Education
Hutton began his career in 2007. For 10 years, he taught middle and high school science classes in the Valley Center and Maize school system and coached several sports as well.
In 2017, Hutton was hired as an administrator in the Wichita Public Schools. During his tenure, he oversaw various departments such as student support services and athletics. He also worked on projects like school accreditation and managed the professional development of teachers, student discipline, teacher evaluations, budgeting, and complete school operations.
Most recently, he has been the vice president of Youth Horizons, an organization that provides Christian mentoring and support for at-risk children. At Youth Horizons, he handled employee care, various community partnerships, strategic planning, and budgeting.

Tim Kuhns

Prior to coming to Trinity in 2020, Mr. Kuhns had a total of 36 years experience in Christian schools including Corn Bible Academy, Oklahoma Bible Academy, Pan American Christian Academy (Brazil), and Bethel Life School, serving in several capacities ranging from athletic director/coach to principal and superintendent.
Bachelor’s in Health and PE from Tabor College and master’s in Educational Administration and Supervision from Wichita State University.

Karen Bruns
Position/Title
K-5 Assistant Principal
Experience & Education
Karen Bruns has 20 years of experience teaching kindergarten and 1st grade. She spent seven of those years teaching at Trinity Academy before being promoted to assistant principal.

Nick Martineau is the senior pastor at Hope Community Church in Andover. Nick is also the founder and president of ILoveOrphans.com, an organization in Uganda. He and his wife, Liz, have three children.
John Turner is a Trinity parent who brings a passion for community, culture and athletics to his role on the board. He is the vice president of international operations for Lubrication Engineers.
Reagan Mathews brings a background in finance to his position on the board. As a senior vice president at INVISTA, a Koch company, Mathews is involved in acquisitions, divestitures, economic analysis, business development, and cost-effective strategies.
Molly McClintock’s primary focus in her board role is on learning differences.
“My heart is for the family,” says McClintock. “I want to highlight the need for Trinity to be a school for each and every learner.”
Dr. Don Davis is the founder and executive director of The Urban Ministry Institute (TUMI) at World Impact. He currently oversees the training of missionaries, church planters, and pastors at TUMI. He also leads TUMI’s distance learning programs.
Caroline (Bruce) McAndrew is a 2004 Trinity alum with a background in innovative educational strategies. She is a graduate of Stanford University and a former Olympic swimmer.
Caroline and her husband, Tommy, are strong proponents of Christian education. When Caroline and Tommy lived in Australia, Caroline handled the marketing for the Sydney Center for Innovation in Learning (SCIL), the research and innovation unit of Northern Beaches Christian School.
Caroline is a mother of three. The McAndrews attend City Life Church.
Pete Ochs is a founding Board member and an entrepreneur. He currently owns Electrex, Inc., Seat King, and Capital III-Investment Company. The Ochs have two adult children, and Pete serves on the board of Young Life.
Dr. Nate Tofteland is a gastroenterologist at the University of Kansas School of Medicine – Wichita. Tofteland has a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Religious Studies and Philosophy.
Michele Zimmerman has spent 26 years serving in middle school and high school youth groups and brings a passion for spiritual life to her role on the board. Spiritual life is her primary focus on the board.
